Rod Thorson, Classic Hits 103.9 WLPO morning host

815 223 3093

Since 1992, Rod Thorson has been on-the-air in the Illinois Valley, informing and entertaining his beloved (and large) audience with the day's top news stories, life experiences and general absurdities. If you're talking about it, you'll hear about it on Classic Hits 103.9 WLPO between 6 and 10 a.m.

Rod grew up on the family farm (still operating) in western Grundy County. He has a bachelor's degree in agriculture from Illinois State University, worked as a stockbroker for two nationally known firms, has been an entrepreneur, political candidate and is a father of three sons and one daughter.

Rod's media experience is extensive.  He's been quoted in print, heard on-air regularly, and has appeared as a guest on television--most notably a 60 Minutes appearance in April 2000 after he was unceremoniously fired for telling the truth.) Rod also won a primary for state senate in 2002, but lost the general election.

His show features news, weather and sports. You'll laugh, think and cringe--and he does it all on 5 hours sleep per night!

Rod is overly-proud of being host of the 2011 Small Market Silver Dome Award for "Best Radio Show" in Illinois, and works with new & sports anchor Jeremy Aitken 6 mornings a week on Classic Hits 103.9 WLPO.  Listen at FM 103.9, AM 1220, stream through ClassicHits1039WLPO.com or with the WLPO app for your mobile device.
