AM 1220 WLPO Sports Director Lanny Slevin is a veteran of over 35 years in the broadcast industry. Born in Washington,

D.C. and reared in Peoria, Illinois, he attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa. Lanny then spent 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Greenland. Lanny's broadcast career started at WPRC in Lincoln, Illinois. During his three years there he worked into the broadcast side of the business, specializing in sports reporting. He came to WLPO in the fall of 1973 and since then has broadcast over 3000 events--primarily high school and junior college sports. Lanny's honors include induction into the media category of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, the IVCC Hall of Fame, and he's the only media person in the nation in the National Junior College Hall of Fame. Slevin was also the voice of the statewide radio program "The Illinois High School Association Sports Report." Lanny lives in Peru with his wife Joanne. They are the parents of nine children and six grandchildren.
